Earlier this year, the Lupus Foundation of America launched a new online initiative, the National Resource Center on Lupus, which will serve as the organization’s most comprehensive reference on the disease. One of the primary goals of the Resource Center will be to give individuals with Lupus access to the most current information about the disease, as well as resources to help care for their mental and emotional health. Additionally, those in the health care field will be able to find some of the most recent research and medical information about advances in lupus care through the Resource Center. The Lupus Foundation of America is dedicated to eradicating lupus. Some of the foundation’s different programs include providing education, offering advocacy, and giving support to individuals who have the disease. Their overall goals for the program include making sure that all those diagnosed have access to treatment while also working to cut down on the time it takes to be diagnosed so that the disease is treated sooner. The Lupus Foundation of America announced in December 2016 that the 21st Century Cures Act was signed into law. This affects many of the positions that are crucial to the foundation, such as having drug development that is focused on the needs of the patient. The foundation plans to host the National Policy Summit from June 26-27, 2017, in hopes of raising attention to the needs of those who have lupus. Founded by a group of lay Catholics, Unbound provides for the needs of marginalized communities in over 20 countries. Based on Gospel teachings, the organization’s mission directly benefits families to encourage them to participate in the community. Unbound also enjoins individuals to support its cause through its Sponsorship Program. The Sponsorship Program allows private individuals to sponsor families, youth, and individuals who are elderly. Sponsorship funds are used to provide recipients with food and access to health care. Children and teens are also granted opportunities to complete their educations through the sponsorship program. Further Unbound is the only major organization that sponsors the needs of individuals who are elderly, providing them with medical care, nutritious food, opportunities for recreation, and support groups.  An accomplished financial professional and humanitarian, Bradley DiTeresi serves as a partner in real estate development group Casas Hof Constructora e Inmobiliaria. A Phase II clinical trial by Aurinia Pharmaceutical Company studying the effects of voclosporin as a therapeutic option in treating lupus has concluded. According to data provided by Aurinia, the study achieved favorable results, with total remission reported in a large amount of those who received the drug through participation in the study. Lupus Foundation of America president and CEO Sandra C. Raymond commented on the study’s results, saying they are a significant step forward in treating people who suffer from lupus-related kidney disease. She also expressed excitement about voclosporin treatment moving into the third phase of its clinical trials, praising the drug as a strong treatment option should it continue to show results in testing. The Lupus Foundation of America will keep following the course of voclosporin studies and report the findings to its membership. |
