A Phase II clinical trial by Aurinia Pharmaceutical Company studying the effects of voclosporin as a therapeutic option in treating lupus has concluded. According to data provided by Aurinia, the study achieved favorable results, with total remission reported in a large amount of those who received the drug through participation in the study. Lupus Foundation of America president and CEO Sandra C. Raymond commented on the study’s results, saying they are a significant step forward in treating people who suffer from lupus-related kidney disease. She also expressed excitement about voclosporin treatment moving into the third phase of its clinical trials, praising the drug as a strong treatment option should it continue to show results in testing. The Lupus Foundation of America will keep following the course of voclosporin studies and report the findings to its membership.
